I Applied To Be A Border Patrol Agent. Is IT mandatory to work along the southwest border?
I want to know where i will be stationed do we have a say in where we want to be stationed. I would like to work in the buffalo sector/bordering canada and NY. Is it possible to prefer this location or do i have to work in NM, AZ, TX, or anywhere else they tell me too.

You will go wherever they choose to send you. NM is a nice place, the weather there is perfect.
Answer 2 :
All rookie agents work the SW border. No exceptions. A great source of information for applicants is http://honorfirst.com/
Answer 3 :
The Border Patrol is like the military. You won't necessarily be sent to the front lines just because you joined. And the Border Patrol doesn't just work at the Canadian and Mexican borders, either. They're also in the airports and seaports that handle international travel. They should let you request working in a certain location, but bear in mind that doesn't mean that's where you'll be sent.
Answer 4 :
Remember these words: "Needs of the Service." If your application is accepted you will be called and offered a position at a specific duty station, presumably on the southwest border, or wherever else they need agents at the time. If your choice fits their needs, you are in luck. Otherwise, start studying Spanish
